Don’t buy V tickets on eBay

We strongly advise against buying tickets to V festival on eBay or any other auction site. Although the majority of ticket purchases on eBay probaby go off without a hitch there’s far too many which end up in disappointment for it to be worth the risk.

Look at the facts of eBay tickets:

  • eBay offer no guarentee of a tickets validity, you’ll have to wait until the day to find out whether you’ve got a real ticket
  • eBay can’t do anything if your seller changes his mind or decides to sell to someone else. Even if you’re not out of pocket you still won’t have a festival ticket.
  • Buying tickets on eBay is expensive, even more so if the tickets don’t turn up in time (or at all)

eBay would be OK if there weren’t better alternatives. Sites like seatwave and viagogo let you buy at a set price with guarenteed deliery. If the seller backs out the site will get you another ticket at the price you paid. If they can’t find one you’ll get your money back. For this service you do pay a hefty commission but because of the way this market place works the tickets are often not a lot more expensive than comparative listings on eBay, even with the commission.

This is not a personal vendetta against eBay. eBay is a great site for most products and I use it regularly to get some great deals. However I’ve brought tickets 5 times on eBay, once the tickets didn’t turn up at all and another time they arrived the morning after the gig. If you’re buying v festival tickets this year do the smart thing, buy off mates where you can or check out the V festival tickets available now, all of which come with a guarantee of validity and delivery.
